SPIKE LEE PRESENTS: AMERICAN SKIN
World Premiere – Venice Film Festival, La Biennale
#1 Film in America (January 2021)
Co-Produced by R.D. Delgado
Produced by Mark Burg, Tarak Ben Ammar, and Lukas Behnken
Executive Produced by Zak Tanjeloff
A searing, cinematic reckoning with race, grief, and justice in America.
Written and directed by Nate Parker, American Skin follows a Marine veteran in the aftermath of his unarmed son’s killing by police. It’s a story that demands confrontation—with systems, with sorrow, with ourselves.
Spike Lee came on board to Executive Produce the film.
We premiered in, and won, the Sconfini section at the iconic Venice Film Festival (La Biennale).
And when we returned home—amid COVID lockdowns and political unrest—it became the #1 film in America.
As co-producer, the project took me from a pitch to the financier on a rooftop in Beverly Hills to the canals of Venice.
But the most important journey is the one that (hopefully) leads the viewer to look in the eyes of his "enemy" and therein find his humanity.
This isn’t just a credit on just another film.
It’s a testament to the kind of work Beggar Kings aims for:
World-Class Talent. Heartfelt Content. Enduring Impact.
