Millions shuffle beneath Michelangelo’s ceiling, yet few grasp the epic arc—Life, Death, Triumph—encoded in its paint. When the Vatican Museums allowed us to create the first-ever, Vatican-approved immersive journey through the Sistine Chapel, our mission was clear: bring these frescoes to life to let anyone step inside the narrative.
Our Craft
We began with the Vatican Museums’ gigapixel assets, then rebuilt the heart of the chapel in Unreal Engine 5, matching every fresco contour to laser-surveyed geometry. Dynamic global illumination and true-to-life PBR materials let light dance across the paintings just as it does at dawn in Rome. A custom exploration interface—triggered by eye-tracking on Apple Vision Pro—reveals hidden symbolism, then fades so visitors can simply be there.
